Situated at a steep sloping site on the Peak, we took an existing house and completely re-wrapped its exterior and re-organized the interior to become the Planes House. To capitalize on the expansive sea view, each floor consists of indoor functions extended outward in the form of terrace or balcony, hence “planes”. The first, lowest plane contains main entrance, double height living and dining space; the second plane contains a guest suite, family room and kids’ study, with generous deck. The upper two planes are bedrooms with balconies. To be clad in two shades of sandstone, together with dark grey metal cladding, grounded with highly textured garden walls at its base, we aim to create a house with an aura that speaks of modernity, calmness, and exclusiveness.
