As founder of via. architecture, Frank Leung brings over 15 years’ experience to his projects. Growing up in Hong Kong and trained in the US, his designs are characterised by a worldly sophistication and a respect for cultural nuances.
In 2001 he earned his first plaudits, receiving an Honourable Mention in the Young Architect’s Award for his adaptive-reuse proposal for the Arts Centre School. The honour established his design creed to create environments with “respect, passion and beauty.”
Frank honed his collaborative and planning skills while working as a project manager for a Hong Kong real estate developer. During his eight-year tenure, he oversaw every aspect of construction, from initial design to final launch. The experience fostered an appreciation for cross-disciplinary collaboration and his ability to protect a design’s integrity while managing the practicalities of budget and time constraints.
As Principal Designer at via., Frank employs the same all-inclusive approach. The company name ‘via.’ — evoking transition, change and discovery – was chosen to reflect the multi-disciplinary processes and collaborations required for innovation in design.
“An open-minded exchange of ideas encourages a shared sense of commitment,” explains Frank. “Passion and purpose are fundamental to design excellence.”
Since founding via. architecture limited in 2009, Frank has established his presence on the Hong Kong design scene. The studio’s diverse, award-winning portfolio spans residential, hospitality, commercial and retail projects, incorporating graphic, architectural and interior design.
